Quebrada   |   Samba a Meia Lua   |   Super Sonic Samba School
I have been dancing Samba since 1999. I started with the Super Sonic Samba School in San Diego, and maintained my involvement with the group through 2005. I began studying Capoeira (an Afro-Brazilian martial art) in 2000 and had the opportunity to visit Brazil to learn more about Brazilian dance first-hand. I have trained in Regional and Angola styles of Capoeira, and have studied/taught various forms of Brazilian Dance.

When I lived in Phoenix (2002-2004) I started a group called Samba a Meia Lua (under the Phoenix branch of Capoeira a Meia Lua). We performed onstage at venues in Scottsdale and Phoenix. I previously served as the Dance Director for the Super Sonic Samba School (2005) and then my own Samba/Axe group called Quebrada. We performed at local San Diego clubs and events, such as Street Scene and Cafe Sevilla.

Samba is a Brazilian dance which varies stylistically throughout different regions of Brazil. I dance Rio style Samba as well as Samba Reggae (the style popular in Bahia). Much of my choreography also includes the Axe or Lambaerobica style, also popular in Bahia.

In 2006-07, I started Go-Go dancing and modeling as a part of a monthly event called Orange Kiss in San Diego. The theme of the monthly was retro, Bond-Girl style, with a group of dancers featured as the "Orange Kiss a-Go-Go Dancers". The group disbanded in Fall 2007.

In 2010 I lived in Seattle, where I taught Samba, Capoeira, Cardio Hip-Hop, Bollywood, Dance Fusion, and Zumba, and have choreographed extensively for each. I also teach Yoga, Pilates, Yoga-lates, and Balance Ball classes. I am currently (2011) filming fitness videos on the beach in San Diego, which will soon be available for download and use on personal communication devices ~ stay tuned!
